Some nations even have a ‘right to disconnect’ law, preventing managers from contacting employees outside of working hours.
To assist in identifying the best countries for achieving this balance, international health insurance company William Russell conducted research on optimal relocation destinations for families. Their analysis focused on the average number of hours and days worked in 2022, revealing which countries offer the healthiest work-life balance.
Germany emerged as the leader, with an average of 1,341 hours worked annually, equating to 178 days. Considering there are 260 working days in a year excluding annual leave, this is a remarkable statistic.
Denmark secured second place with 1,372 hours and 182 days worked per year, followed by Norway with 1,425 hours or 189 days. The list was predominantly dominated by Northern European countries, but Türkiye made it to the tenth spot with 1,498 hours and 199 days worked annually.
