Celebrating a decade as a Guinness World Records holder, Rumeysa Gelgi of Türkiye has added two new remarkable titles to her illustrious list of achievements. Initially recognized as the tallest female teenager in 2014, Rumeysa, now 27, continues to inspire with her extraordinary height, attributed to Weaver syndrome, a rare condition.
Reflecting on her journey, Rumeysa shared, “Over the last decade, I’ve had an incredible journey with Guinness World Records. I have had many opportunities to share my story and outlook, even in places I never dreamed of reaching.” She expressed gratitude for the empowering messages she has received from the public, transforming her unique condition into a source of strength and positivity.
Already holding multiple Guinness World Records, including tallest living woman and longest finger on a living person (female), Rumeysa recently secured two additional records. She now jointly holds the title for longest baby (female), having measured 59 cm at birth in 1997. Additionally, Rumeysa holds the record for longest ears on a female, with an average measurement of 9.58 cm.
Her journey has not been without challenges, as Rumeysa candidly revealed, “My ears have unfortunately been one of the main things I’ve been bullied for throughout my entire life.” However, she turned this adversity into triumph, aiming to send a powerful message by achieving new records related to her physical features.
Addressing misconceptions about her condition, Rumeysa highlighted the benefits of having larger ears, including enhanced hearing abilities and ample space for her beloved jewelry. She emphasized, “My aim is to encourage everyone to feel happy in their own skin,” advocating for self-acceptance and celebrating differences.
As she continues to break new records and inspire others globally, Rumeysa remains a beacon of resilience and self-love, demonstrating that embracing one’s uniqueness can lead to extraordinary achievements. Her story resonates as a testament to overcoming adversity and thriving with authenticity.
