Princess Cruises has made waves in culinary history by hosting the world’s largest pizza party, in collaboration with 13-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani. The event marked a significant milestone and celebrated a new partnership, drawing passengers to indulge in pizza across multiple ship venues, with Guinness World Records adjudicator Callie Smith certifying the results.
The culinary feat saw Princess chefs utilizing an impressive amount of ingredients, including 6,512 pounds of dough crafted from 3,417 pounds of flour, 2,323 pounds of cheese, and 1,393 pounds of pepperoni. This abundance of ingredients underscored the scale and ambition of the event.
Chef Tony Gemignani, renowned for his mastery in pizza-making, contributed two exclusive creations for Princess: the soppressata sausage and hot honey pizza, and the agave pesto and goat cheese pizza. Additionally, he shared recipes for three of his award-winning pizzas, enriching the culinary offerings onboard.
Gemignani’s artisan pizzas will debut at Alfredo’s on the new Sun Princess, following intensive training for Princess chefs at his acclaimed Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco. This preparation ensures that the pizzas can be expertly replicated across the entire Princess fleet, starting this summer.
Princess Cruises’ achievement in hosting the world’s largest pizza party not only sets a Guinness World Record but also highlights their commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences at sea, combining innovation with culinary excellence.
