In an extraordinary display of endurance and passion, 24-year-old Nigerian gamer Oside Oluwole, known as ‘Khoded’, has secured a new Guinness World Record for the longest videogame marathon playing a soccer game.
Oluwole’s marathon gaming session lasted an impressive 75 hours, surpassing the previous record of 50 hours set by Englishman David Whitefoot in 2022. Guinness World Records officially recognized this achievement on their website, highlighting Oluwole’s perseverance and dedication.
Formerly a biochemist turned car dealer from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Oluwole chose Dream League Soccer 2023, a mobile game he has passionately played since 2016, for his record-breaking attempt. Unlike previous record holders who opted for FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer, Oluwole utilized his iPhone connected to a TV screen for the marathon.
Reflecting on his monumental achievement, Oluwole shared, “Playing for 75 hours straight with only brief breaks was challenging, but incredibly enjoyable. The event was a fantastic experience, and I am grateful to have successfully completed it.”
Throughout the marathon, Guinness World Records mandated that Oluwole take five minutes of rest for every hour of gameplay. Over the course of the event, he competed in more than 500 matches, showcasing remarkable stamina and commitment to his goal.
Beyond personal accomplishment, Oluwole’s record attempt also served a charitable purpose. He used the platform to raise funds for a local hospital in his hometown, underscoring his dedication to giving back to the community.
Oluwole’s achievement not only sets a new benchmark in the gaming world but also highlights his resilience and determination in pursuing both personal and philanthropic goals.
