LIMESTONE, Maine – A momentous achievement unfolded on Thursday at the Loring Runway during the Land Speed Event, as Chad Roy and Jade Noonan Couture clinched a new Guinness World Record for two-up motorcycles, clocking an impressive speed of 195 miles per hour.
The record-breaking run surpassed the previous mark effortlessly, marking a significant milestone for the duo. Reflecting on their accomplishment, Chad Roy expressed confidence in their ability to achieve this feat, stating, “It looked something achievable. I thought we could do it. I bought a bike and we modified it a little bit and we ended up breaking the record on the first try.”
Jade Noonan Couture, sharing her exhilaration, described the experience as surreal, noting, “It’s just unbelievable. It goes so quickly that you don’t even realize it. On the way back from the run it seems so slow. It goes by very quickly 195.”
Couture emphasized her trust in Roy’s expertise, highlighting their shared passion for riding and the meticulous preparations undertaken for such high-speed endeavors. “I trust Chad explicitly. I will continue to ride with him because he has been a rider pretty much his whole life. He knows the bike and we will continue riding together.”
Roy, no stranger to speed, had previously completed solo runs exceeding 200 miles per hour. Now, he aims to guide Couture into the exclusive ranks of the 200-mile-per-hour club. “The name in the record book and also the name in the book here to be in the 200 mile per hour club. I have already been in the club from being alone on that bike, so I am hoping to get her inducted also.”
Their achievement not only marks a personal triumph but also underscores their dedication and skill in the world of motorcycle speed records, cementing their place in the annals of automotive history.
