BALTIMORE, July 26, 2024 – Wes Moore, Governor of Maryland, has emerged as one of the most popular governors in the United States, securing the third position in a recent survey conducted by Morning Consult.
With an impressive 65% approval rating, Moore trails only Vermont’s Phil Scott and Kentucky’s Andy Beshear in nationwide popularity, according to the survey findings. His disapproval rating, notably, ranks as the second lowest among all governors.
Moore, 45, clinched the gubernatorial seat in 2022 after defeating Dan Cox. A former U.S. Army member and alumnus of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Moore has garnered recognition for his leadership during critical state matters, including the response to the Key Bridge collapse.
His tenure has also been marked by significant achievements such as securing the Baltimore Orioles’ commitment to stay at Camden Yards, pardoning over 175,000 marijuana convictions, spearheading the legalization of recreational marijuana, and ensuring access to gender-affirming healthcare through executive action.
Governor Moore’s proactive governance and popular policy decisions continue to resonate positively both within Maryland and across the nation, cementing his status as a key figure in contemporary American politics.
