Aymane El Haddaoui, a sprinter from New Mexico Junior College, won a gold medal and set a world record in the T46/T47 400 meters at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games on Saturday. El Haddaoui, who crossed the finish line in 46.65 seconds, narrowly defeated fellow Moroccan Ayoub Sadni, who took the silver with a time of 47.16 seconds.
The T46/T47 classification is designated for athletes with upper limb impairments. El Haddaoui, who has a wrist impairment, was eligible to compete in this category. In addition to his gold medal performance, El Haddaoui also earned a bronze in the T47 100 meters during the Games.
Aymane El Haddaoui is a two-time NJCAA All-American, having achieved this recognition in his freshman year at New Mexico Junior College.
