Shona Noguchi, an avid rail enthusiast from Japan, has set a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to travel to all Tokyo subway stations, completing the challenge in 13 hours and 53 minutes. The Tokyo subway system, comprising 285 stations spread across Tokyo and neighboring prefectures like Saitama and Chiba, was conquered in Noguchi’s impressive attempt.
Starting at 8:22 a.m. from Nishi-magome station, Noguchi’s journey involved standing for nearly 14 hours on various trains while documenting each station with photos as evidence. Despite the demanding schedule, he encountered no significant delays, and his attempt concluded at 10:18 p.m. at Nishi-takashimadaria station.
Noguchi’s passion for trains began early, inspired by his Plarail toy trains. His previous achievements include visiting every train station in the Kanto region. He sought to replicate and surpass the record for London Underground stations with this Tokyo challenge.
Expressing his admiration for the Tokyo rail system’s operational excellence, Noguchi reflects on his achievement as a milestone in his lifelong train journey.
