Visakhapatnam has officially set a Guinness World Record by hosting an event where 450 participants of all ages crafted an astonishing 58,112 crochet squares in record time. This achievement earned the title of “Largest Display of Crochet Squares,” validated by a Guinness World Records representative.
The event featured Mayak Kumari Deo, former convenor of Intech Visakhapatnam, as the chief guest, alongside Dr. Renuka Rani, secretary of the Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh, who served as the guest of honour.
Swapnil Dangarikar, a Guinness World Records representative from London, presented the certificate to Madhavi Suribhatla, the key organiser of the event. He highlighted that while the typical requirement for such a record is 20,000 crochet squares, the participants surpassed expectations significantly. Madhavi noted with pride that the team included individuals ranging in age from six to 86, showcasing a remarkable community effort.
