A Canadian YouTuber has made headlines by setting a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the most hot sauce consumed in three minutes, downing an impressive 1.12 kg of Sriracha. Mike Jack, known for his exceptional spice tolerance, achieved this feat, which equates to the weight of more than two soccer balls, each weighing approximately 450 grams. The record-breaking moment was captured in a video shared by Guinness World Records on their official Instagram account.
In the footage, Jack pours two bottles of Sriracha sauce into a bowl and quickly grabs a teaspoon, devouring the fiery sauce with astonishing speed, akin to eating a sweet apple sauce. “That’s too much sauce,” Jack remarked after finishing the enormous quantity, adding that he experienced “flavor fatigue.” He also mentioned that part of his strategy involved imagining he was consuming a pumpkin pie.
Reactions to Jack’s record have flooded social media. One viewer commented, “My eyes hurt from watching alone,” while another quipped, “My mouth is on fire from watching this.” Enthusiastic fans suggested, “I want to see him do this with Ghost pepper sauce,” and joked about the potential aftermath, saying, “RIP his stomach, taste buds and toilet.”
Despite the challenges of consuming such a large quantity of hot sauce, Jack told GWR that he has a remarkable spice tolerance and has never suffered from what he playfully referred to as “burn-butt” after indulging in spicy foods. “It’s my superpower, I guess,” he joked.
While these record attempts may seem entertaining, it is important to note that such feats can lead to gastrointestinal issues or other health risks, and should not be attempted at home.
