Prayagraj is gearing up for the upcoming Maha Kumbh with ambitions to set four Guinness World Records during this massive religious gathering. The Mela administration aims not only to achieve these records but also to promote a green and clean environment throughout the event.
The first record attempt will feature a parade of 1,000 e-rickshaws traversing the city, showcasing eco-friendly transportation. The second endeavor aims for the simultaneous cleaning of the ghats by 15,000 workers, highlighting community effort in maintaining the sacred sites.
Additionally, a unique attempt will involve 300 individuals entering the Ganga river simultaneously to clean it, reinforcing the commitment to environmental conservation. The fourth record targeted is the creation of handprints from 10,000 people within an eight-hour window in the Ganga pandal and fair area.
A budget of Rs 4.87 crore has been allocated for these record-setting initiatives, reflecting the administration’s dedication to making this Maha Kumbh memorable.
In the previous Kumbh in 2019, Prayagraj successfully set three Guinness World Records, including the largest sanitation drive, the largest hand painting theme, and the largest parade of buses.
In a related development, the Prayagraj Development Authority has received approval for a Rs 498 lakh proposal aimed at constructing a Yamuna River Front, featuring a prominent water laser show. This initiative was among several proposals approved during an apex committee meeting led by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh.
Furthermore, a proposal of Rs 95.5 lakh was sanctioned for an overall evaluation of the Maha Kumbh by IIT-Kanpur. The institution will deliver a comprehensive report analyzing aspects such as police security deployment, traffic management, planning of fair-related works, and the socio-economic impact of the event.
The Chief Secretary reassured that there would be no shortage of resources for this grand occasion. Plans also include establishing a library in the fair area, where visitors can access textbooks related to Sanatan Dharma, culture, and the Maha Kumbh.
