LAS VEGAS, Nov. 14, 2024 — Ela Taubert was awarded Best New Artist at the 2024 Latin GRAMMY Awards, solidifying her place as one of the most exciting new voices in Latin music. The Bogotá-born artist, known for her deeply confessional lyrics and emotive sound, has captivated millions of listeners with her raw, heartfelt music.
Taubert’s journey to this prestigious honor began with the release of her debut EP, ¿Quién Dijo Que Era Fácil? in March 2023. The five-track EP introduced Taubert’s unique blend of synth-pop and guitar-driven sounds, with standout tracks like “¿Qué Hubiera Pasado?” which explored the angst of a relationship on the brink of falling apart. However, it was her breakout single, “¿Cómo Pasó?”, released in February 2024, that truly propelled her into the spotlight. The emotional track quickly gained traction, amassing over 91 million streams on Spotify.
In addition to her musical success, Taubert garnered significant industry recognition, including a co-sign from previous Latin GRAMMY winner Karol G, who invited her to open for a concert in Bogotá. This endorsement from one of the biggest stars in Latin music further solidified Taubert’s rising star power.
Taubert, an alum of Julio Reyes Copello’s Art House Academy and Abbey Road Institute Miami, continues the tradition of excellence from her alma mater, which also produced Joaquina, last year’s winner of Best New Artist.
Other notable nominees in the Best New Artist category included Agris, Kevin Aguilar, DARUMAS, Nicolle Horbath, Latin Mafia, Cacá Magalhães, Os Garotin, Inigo Quintero, and Sofi Saar. Despite the strong competition, Taubert’s authentic voice and emotional depth earned her the coveted award, marking the beginning of what promises to be a stellar career in Latin music.
