Luzerne Pte Ltd is delighted to announce its pivotal role in helping the Dehua Ceramic Trade Association (China) achieve the prestigious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest porcelain sculpture of a car (supported). Guinness World Records is the global authority on record-breaking achievements, with rigorous criteria including measurability, standardization, and verifiability.
On August 14, 2024, Luzerne’s craftsmanship officially earned the title for creating the world’s first full-scale, 1:1 porcelain car model, weighing a remarkable 1.4 tonnes. According to Guinness World Records officials, the car’s dimensions are impressive: it measures 5.51 meters in length, 2.15 meters in width, and 1.39 meters in height, totaling 9.05 meters – exceeding the category’s minimum requirement of 8 meters.
The historic achievement was the result of a collaborative effort between Luzerne and the Dehua Ceramic Trade Association. Over the course of 11 months, the team worked tirelessly in Luzerne’s fully-owned factory in Dehua, Fujian Province, the birthplace of Blanc de Chine porcelain, celebrated for its soft ivory-white hue. The Dehua kilns were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2021, further cementing the region’s status as a global leader in porcelain craftsmanship.
A team of 50 skilled craftsmen from the Dehua region worked meticulously on the sculpture. The large scale and intricate form of the sculpture posed significant challenges, but the diverse expertise of the team made the achievement possible. “The team of 50 boasts diverse skill sets, so we benefited greatly from teamwork to accomplish this feat; it is impossible to do it alone. Dehua is the world’s porcelain city, and we have a mission to spread its name afar,” said Mr. Peter Lek, Managing Director of Hiap Huat Holdings Pte Ltd and Chairman of Luzerne Pte Ltd.
The Dehua county government, in partnership with Luzerne, continues to explore new opportunities in ceramic culture and art. The goal is to raise Dehua’s global recognition and market competitiveness by using Blanc de Chine as an ambassador for Chinese porcelain artistry.
Founded in 2004, Luzerne has been designing and producing bespoke, high-quality tableware for renowned restaurants, hotels, and chefs worldwide. The company pioneered the creation of fine china without animal bone ash, and its factory in Dehua is the first in the world to be Halal-certified.
