Majestic Wine has hailed its best-ever Christmas, reporting a record number of shoppers and a significant sales boost during the key festive period.
The wine retailer saw a 1.9% increase in sales over the six weeks leading up to December 30, surpassing its previous record for Christmas sales set in 2023. The company attributed this success to several key factors, including the opening of seven new stores and the growth of its specialized on-trade supply arm, Majestic Commercial.
During this period, Majestic served over 70,000 new customers, marking its largest-ever market share. Additionally, the company’s on-trade teams expanded their reach, supplying nearly 800 new gastropubs, bars, restaurants, and hospitality venues compared to the previous year.
The retailer also made a significant investment in its expansion efforts, with £1 million directed towards enhancing its store network. This investment paid off on December 23, when Majestic celebrated its biggest trading day in history, as last-minute shoppers flocked to purchase wines for the holiday season. Christmas Eve also marked a record high, becoming the busiest day in the company’s history.
With continued growth in both retail and on-trade supply, Majestic Wine is poised to build on this success in the year ahead.
