Wellsville Secondary School Athletics celebrated another successful weekend in track and field, with standout performances at both Houghton College and the Jack Reed High School Showcase Invitational in Rochester.
Wellsville at Houghton College (January 11, 2025)
The Wellsville Indoor Track and Field program had a strong showing at the RWTL South Division meet at Houghton College on Friday night, with several athletes setting impressive records and placing among the top competitors.
Kaylee Oswald led the charge by setting a new school indoor record in the Shot Put, throwing an impressive 42’-2.25”, securing first place in the event. Her performance highlighted her continuing dominance in the sport as she continues to build on her record-setting career.
Other notable finishes for Wellsville athletes included:
Brooklyn Dahlgren, who took first place in the High Jump with a height of 4’-9”.
Piper Metro, who placed second in the High Jump, clearing 4’-6”.
Sarah Mattison, who finished second in the Weight Throw with a throw of 32’-6.25”.
Makenna Cooke, who earned third place in the Weight Throw, tossing 27’-10”.
Collin Perkins, who placed third in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:08.11 and sixth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:16.21.

At the Jack Reed High School Showcase Invitational in Rochester, Kaylee Oswald once again stole the spotlight, placing first in the Shot Put with a throw of 42’-0.25”. This throw not only earned her first place but also set a new meet record, surpassing the previous mark of 39’ set in 2020.
Oswald’s remarkable consistency and ability to break records have solidified her as a rising star in the track and field world. Her performances over the weekend highlight her immense talent and unwavering dedication to her sport.
