An artist from England has shattered a Guinness World Record by crafting a Lego brick sculpture as small as a human white blood cell.
David A. Lindon, a resident of Bournemouth, has achieved the remarkable feat of creating a Lego sculpture measuring just 0.02517 millimeters (0.00099 inches) by 0.02184 millimeters (0.00086 inches). This size makes his creation about four times smaller than the previous record-holder for the smallest handmade sculpture.
Lindon’s tiny Lego sculpture, along with two slightly larger Lego bricks made at the same time, had to be measured using a light microscope by experts at Evident Scientific to officially verify the record.
In an interview with Guinness World Records, Lindon explained the challenges of creating such minuscule objects. “The challenge to create tiny objects that can’t be seen without a microscope is demanding both physically and mentally,” he said. “I have trained myself to slow my breathing and work between the beats of my heart. Even the pulse of my heart beating through my fingers creates too much movement.”
To minimize disturbances during his work, Lindon adds that he does most of his creations at night, when daytime vibrations from traffic won’t interfere with his meticulous process.
This mind-boggling achievement showcases Lindon’s incredible precision and steady hand, further cementing his place in the world of micro-artistry.
