An antique ambulance has earned a Guinness World Record after completing a remarkable 3,200-mile journey across the United States. The 1972 Cadillac ambulance, the oldest licensed ambulance in the country, traveled from Hollywood, California, to Hollywood, Florida, breaking the world record for the longest journey ever made by an ambulance.
The cross-country journey, which began on March 1 and concluded on Monday, was driven by a team from Symbiosis Ambulance and Axene Continuing Education, a non-profit organization focused on emergency medical services (EMS) education. The mission behind the trip was to raise awareness of the crucial role that EMS education plays in ensuring the safety and health of communities.
The journey spanned a total of 3,233 miles, and a Guinness World Records adjudicator officially confirmed it as the new record for the longest distance traveled by an ambulance. Along the way, the team highlighted the importance of ongoing training and the dedication of EMS professionals in saving lives and responding to emergencies across the country.
To celebrate the successful completion of their journey, the Axene Continuing Education team held an EKG training session for Hollywood Firefighters and EMS personnel. This educational event was part of their commitment to promoting continuing education within the EMS field.
The antique ambulance’s trip not only earned a world record but also helped shine a spotlight on the significance of EMS training and the critical work of first responders.
