In 2025, Spain continues to hold the crown for the world’s best burgers. Hundred Burgers, a popular chain with locations in Madrid and Valencia, has been named the best burger joint in the world for the second consecutive year by The World’s Best Burgers. This prestigious international guide, which ranks the top 25 burger spots globally, solidifies Hundred Burgers as a leading force in quality fast food.
The recognition comes after a rigorous selection process where a community of experts tasted 900 burgers in 63 countries. Alongside Hundred Burgers, the top spots were claimed by Pizza Loves Emily in New York and Holy Burger in São Paulo, Brazil. Two other Spanish establishments, Soul Coffee in Valencia and Briochef in Madrid, also made the list, ranking tenth and seventeenth, respectively. This outcome highlights Spain as a rising hub for signature fast food.
The journey of Hundred Burgers began in 2017 when two friends, Alex González-Urbón and Ezequiel Maldjian, set out on a mission to eat the 15 best hamburgers in New York in just four days. They documented their adventure on Instagram, unintentionally starting a global food movement. Over the next three years, they traveled to 22 countries and sampled over 300 burgers, gathering inspiration to open their own restaurant. The result was Hundred Burgers, which opened in Valencia in 2020 and quickly gained international recognition.
From the outset, Alex and Ezequiel were committed to quality craftsmanship. They personally select the best cuts of meat, grind it fresh daily, and focus on creating juicy, irregular burgers, rejecting industrial uniformity. They also spent a year perfecting their demi-brioche bread, designed to complement the burger’s flavors and textures. Each element of the sandwich is carefully balanced to enhance the overall experience.
The World’s Best Burgers award is not just a recognition but a symbol of responsibility for the Hundred Burgers team. “It reflects years of sacrifice and dedication from everyone involved,” says González-Urbón. “Some tours in Valencia even stop by our restaurant, telling tourists it serves the best burger in the world. It’s an indescribable feeling,” adds Maldjian. Today, the brand has four locations in Valencia and three in Madrid, all united by the same passion for exceptional burgers. The most popular spot is the one on Calle San Vicente Mártir in Valencia, near a beautiful university library. The restaurant also offers delivery and pick-up services through Glovo.
Since 2014, The World’s Best Burgers has been the definitive guide for burger enthusiasts, featuring 898 reviews across 535 cities and 63 countries. Being ranked number one in this guide positions Hundred Burgers as the global standard for burger perfection.
