In celebration of World Kabaddi Day, the country achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of players participating in a Kabaddi exhibition match. The historic event took place at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, where a staggering 128 players showcased their skills on the Kabaddi mat.
The attempt to break the Guinness World Record commenced at 11 am under the watchful eyes of adjudicators from the Guinness team. For three hours, the players engaged in continuous play, demonstrating their agility, strength, and strategic prowess. Finally, at 2 pm, the record was officially shattered, with a total of 128 players actively participating in the match. The declaration came from Guinness adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar, affirming the country’s remarkable achievement.
The organizers of the event had set an ambitious challenge, aiming to surpass the previous record of 84 players set by Guinness. With their eyes set on a goal of 154 players, Team Arjuna and Team Abhimanyu joined forces and surpassed all expectations, jointly breaking the existing world record.
The esteemed presence of Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya added to the grandeur of the occasion. As the Chief Guest, Governor Dattatreya emphasized the significance of Kabaddi as a sport deeply rooted in Indian culture. He expressed his desire to see Kabaddi recognized as an Olympic sport, highlighting its potential to inspire and unite people across the globe.
Amidst the jubilant atmosphere at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, the Guinness World Record certificate was proudly presented to Governor Dattatreya by the Guinness team. The momentous occasion not only celebrated the spirit of Kabaddi but also symbolized the country’s prowess and determination to excel on the global stage.
