James Whomsley, a British YouTube engineering channel host, has soared into the Guinness World Records with his latest creation: the world’s largest remote-controlled aircraft carrier model.
Measuring an impressive 16.46 feet in length, Whomsley’s meticulously crafted model aircraft carrier has captured the attention of enthusiasts worldwide. But it’s not just the carrier’s size that’s turning heads – Whomsley also achieved another Guinness World Record by successfully landing two remote control model planes on its deck.
The ambitious project, which took Whomsley three months to complete, involved constructing the model aircraft carrier from a combination of wood, foam, and fiberglass. To ensure its durability and resilience, Whomsley reinforced the carrier with expanding foam, making it waterproof and ready for action.
However, the journey to success was not without its challenges. Whomsley encountered difficulties during the initial attempts to land the model planes on the carrier, prompting him to modify the planes for improved performance. Adding first-person view cameras to the model aircraft provided Whomsley with better visibility during the landing process, enhancing the precision and accuracy of each maneuver.
The test flights and landings were conducted at Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire, providing the ideal setting for Whomsley to put his creation through its paces. Despite encountering a setback when one of the model planes crashed into the water during testing, Whomsley persevered, capturing the trials and triumphs of the project in a captivating YouTube video.
This is not the first time Whomsley has made headlines with his engineering prowess. He previously set a Guinness World Record with the fastest remote-controlled jet-powered car, reaching an impressive speed of 94.76 mph. However, the car met its demise after achieving a staggering 141 mph during a third run.
Whomsley’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of remote-controlled vehicles and models has earned him admiration and acclaim within the engineering community. With his latest Guinness World Record achievement, Whomsley continues to inspire others to dream big and pursue their passions with creativity and determination.
