Himmat Singh Rathore, a former Army commando hailing from Rajasthan, has set his sights on etching his name in the prestigious Guinness Book of World Records with an extraordinary display of courage and endurance. The 40-year-old daredevil recently claimed to have shattered the world record for the greatest vertical height stair climbing in 24 hours, marking a remarkable achievement in his quest for glory.
Rathore embarked on his monumental endeavor in Jaipur, commencing his ascent of a staggering 70,679 stairs at 5:30 pm on Monday, May 6, and concluding the awe-inspiring feat at 5:22 pm the following day. Demonstrating unwavering determination, he tirelessly completed 161 rounds of the stairs of a 20-floor building, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record holder’s achievement of 70,242 stairs.
The rigorous challenge was closely monitored by a dedicated team of physical education teachers from a local government school, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Rathore’s record-breaking attempt. Santosh Rathore, a physical teacher overseeing the event, lauded Singh’s exceptional feat, affirming that all proceedings were meticulously documented for submission to the Guinness Book of World Records headquarters.
Rathore’s indomitable spirit and commitment to excellence have been evident throughout his journey towards the world record. Earlier this year, he earned recognition in the India Book of Records for his remarkable accomplishment of continuously climbing and descending 86,400 steps at Khatipura Puliya in Jaipur. In an interview with ETV Bharat, Himmat Singh expressed his initial aspiration to conquer 100,000 stairs, only to be thwarted by the sweltering heat, necessitating an early conclusion to his attempt after surpassing the existing record. However, his determination remained unshakeable as he seized the opportunity to inspire the youth and convey a powerful message against substance abuse.
