Notably, Category 38 – New England Style India Pale Ale emerged as the most fiercely contested category, underscoring the popularity of this contemporary beer style. Additionally, the ascent of craft lagers was evident, with Category 1 – European Style Lager (Pilsner) garnering significant attention and participation.
An intriguing aspect unique to Canada was the inclusion of Category 61 – Canadian Evergreen Beer, celebrating brews infused with needles from evergreen trees or shrubs. Rusted Rake Brewing of British Columbia clinched the coveted title with their T.W.S. Sitka Spruce Tip Brut IPA, exemplifying innovation and regional flair.
The culmination of the event occurred at a Gala held on May 25 in Hamilton, Ontario, where brewers from across the nation congregated in anticipation of the results. Among the esteemed accolades bestowed upon the gold medal winners, the ultimate honor of Best of Show was bestowed upon Corsaire Dark Mild from Corsaire Microbrasserie of Quebec, recognized for its exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
Furthermore, the Canadian Brewery Awards crowned Boxing Rock Brewing of Nova Scotia as the Brewery of the Year for 2024, acknowledging their outstanding performance and consistent excellence across multiple categories.
