Chris Almond, a member of Canterbury Golf Club, has etched his name in the annals of golfing history by officially becoming a Guinness World Record holder. The confirmation from the Guinness Book of World Records arrived, affirming Almond’s remarkable achievement as the youngest player to surpass their age on the golf course.
Almond, then aged 66, achieved this extraordinary feat on June 2, 2022, during his inaugural competition at Scotland Hills. Since that momentous day, he has eagerly awaited validation of his accomplishment, which has now been granted by Guinness World Records.
Expressing his elation, Almond remarked, “I’m very, very excited,” upon receiving the long-awaited confirmation email from GBWR. The email heralded the news with enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to inform you that your application for ‘Youngest golfer to score their age’ has been successful, and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder! Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing!”
In recognition of this monumental achievement, Almond will be bestowed with a prestigious Guinness World Record certificate. Additionally, Canterbury Golf Club will proudly display a framed scorecard, photograph, and written declaration of Almond’s remarkable feat, serving as a lasting tribute to his historic accomplishment. The recognition has also been endorsed by both Canterbury Golf Club and Kent Golf, further cementing Almond’s place in golfing lore.
During his record-breaking round at the Men’s Midweek Medal, Almond delivered a masterclass performance, carding an impressive gross score of 65.
