Ahead of its first anniversary, Past Times Arcade has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records for having the largest collection of pinball machines in the world.
Rob Berk, the owner of Past Times Arcade, opened the business a year ago on North State Street in Girard to share his extensive collection of vintage and modern pinball and arcade games with the community. The recognition came as a surprise when his daughter, Reilly Berk, presented him with a plaque from Guinness World Records confirming his achievement.
The record-breaking collection was officially documented back in February, with Guinness World Records verifying 1,041 unique pinball machines, not counting duplicates. Since then, the collection has expanded to 1,080 machines.
Brigitt Berk, Rob’s wife, detailed the extensive process involved in achieving the record. “Our team was doing the inventory and taking photos for almost two years,” she explained. The process involved meticulous documentation and coordination with Guinness World Records, facilitated by Mike Hale and Wayne Meyers, who worked alongside the Berk family.
The news of the record was also covered in a recent WKBN interview featuring Rob and Reilly Berk, highlighting the dedication and effort put into building and maintaining such an impressive collection. Additionally, WKBN’s Stan Boney aired a segment on the night the plaque was presented, capturing the surprise and excitement of the occasion.
Past Times Arcade has quickly become a local treasure, drawing visitors to experience the extensive array of pinball and arcade games. With this new world record, Rob Berk’s passion for pinball has not only brought joy to the community but also earned a prestigious place in history.
