Sabrina Carpenter secures her inaugural No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart with her latest single, “Please Please Please.” The track ascended to the top position after debuting at No. 2 the previous week, marking a significant milestone for the pop singer-songwriter and actress.
Released under Island Records and supported by Republic Corps for radio promotion, “Please Please Please” saw robust performance metrics in the United States for the tracking week of June 14-20, as reported by Luminate. The song garnered 50.9 million official streams, marking Carpenter’s highest streaming week to date. It also earned 3.2 million radio airplay audience impressions, a remarkable 502% increase, and sold 7,000 units.
The single maintains its leadership on the Streaming Songs chart for a second consecutive week and holds steady at No. 7 on Digital Song Sales. Additionally, it is making strides towards entering the Radio Songs chart.
Accompanying the song’s success, Carpenter released various versions of “Please Please Please” on June 18, including acoustic, a cappella, instrumental, sped-up, and slowed-down renditions. The release strategy further bolstered the track’s visibility and fan engagement.
Carpenter’s achievement comes amidst her announcement of the Short n’ Sweet Tour, comprising 29 dates commencing on September 23 in Columbus, Ohio. This follows her recent performances on Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour in South America and subsequent dates in Australia and Singapore earlier this year.
“Please Please Please,” alongside another track titled “Espresso,” which currently sits at No. 4 on the Hot 100 after reaching No. 3 last week, serves as a prelude to Carpenter’s upcoming album, also titled Short n’ Sweet, scheduled for release on August 23. The anticipation surrounding both the album and her tour underscores Carpenter’s burgeoning success and growing influence in the music industry.
