New Zealand has emerged as a highly desirable destination not just for travel but also for permanent relocation, ranking prominently in recent search data analysis conducted by international moving and shipping company 1st Move International.
According to the study, which analyzed search trends from 2022 to 2024, Canada topped the list with over 1.52 million searches related to moving, relocating, and houses in Canada. The country’s appeal was attributed to its stunning natural beauty and high standard of living, despite the acknowledged high cost of living in cities like Vancouver and Toronto. In 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada processed 471,550 new permanent residents, marking a notable increase compared to previous years.
Australia secured the second spot with over 1.2 million relocation searches. The study highlighted Australia’s natural scenery, cultural diversity, safety, and high-quality healthcare and education systems as key factors contributing to its attractiveness as a place to live. Similar to Canada, Australia also faces challenges such as a high cost of living, particularly in its urban centers.
New Zealand, ranking third in the study’s analysis, was noted for its relaxed and laid-back culture, outstanding work-life balance, and epic landscapes. These qualities contribute significantly to its appeal as a destination for relocation. The study did not overlook challenges such as the high cost of living and varying weather conditions, factors that individuals considering a move would need to weigh.
Overall, the analysis underscores New Zealand’s growing popularity as a preferred destination for those looking to relocate internationally, drawn by its unique lifestyle and natural beauty despite the considerations of living costs and weather variability.
