Harbin, known as China’s Ice City for its frigid winters, has now introduced the world’s largest indoor ice and snow theme park, offering visitors a perennial winter wonderland experience.
Located in Heilongjiang province’s capital, Harbin, the new Harbin Ice and Snow World Park spans an impressive 23,800 square meters. Officially opened on July 6, the park is segmented into nine themed sections featuring 13 interactive projects. It has been certified by Guinness World Records as the largest indoor ice and snow theme park.
Despite Harbin experiencing a summer heat wave with temperatures outside reaching 29 degrees Celsius (84 degrees Fahrenheit), the indoor park maintains a chilly -8 to -12 degrees Celsius (17.6 to 10.4 degrees Fahrenheit), ensuring an authentic winter feel year-round.
The park’s attractions include meticulously crafted ice sculptures using 20,000 cubic meters of ice sourced from the nearby Songhua River. These sculptures, illuminated by cutting-edge lighting and sound technologies, create a captivating environment. Visitors can also engage with interactive displays, enjoy gourmet food offerings, and marvel at intricate ice creations of fruits, ice cream, and cakes colored with environmentally-friendly dyes.
Harbin is renowned for its annual Ice and Snow Festival, drawing crowds during its winter months. The introduction of this massive indoor park aims to extend Harbin’s appeal as a tourist destination beyond the winter season, promising a blend of entertainment, culture, and chilly thrills throughout the year.
