FX Networks has secured its most successful Emmy nominations to date, propelled by its standout series “Shōgun” and “The Bear,” marking a significant achievement in its history. The network garnered a total of 93 nominations across various categories, surpassing its previous record of 56 set in 2016 with “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”
Among FX’s notable nominations this year are “Shōgun” and “The Bear,” leading in drama and comedy categories respectively. “Shōgun” notably becomes the second non-English language program to vie for the drama series honor following 2022’s “Squid Game” from Netflix. The network also made waves with the return of “Fargo” in the limited series or anthology race, underscoring its diverse and competitive presence at the Emmys.
FX’s impressive nomination list includes the final season of “What We Do in the Shadows,” the concluding installment of “Reservation Dogs,” the miniseries “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” the animated series “Archer,” the reality show “Welcome to Wrexham,” and the anthology “American Horror Story: Delicate.”
Over recent years, FX’s Emmy nominations have shown a notable increase, with 27 in 2019, 33 in 2020, 16 in 2021, 23 in 2022, and 37 in 2023, showcasing a doubling of its overall total. This growth represents one of the most significant nomination increases by any network during this period of streaming dominance.
In comparison, Apple TV+ also achieved a personal best with 72 Emmy nominations, driven by standout series like “The Morning Show,” “Slow Horses,” “Palm Royale,” and “Lessons in Chemistry.” Meanwhile, Netflix led the pack with 107 nominations, leveraging its extensive content library to maintain its dominance in the streaming landscape.
The upcoming Creative Arts and Governors Gala ceremonies on Sept. 7-8 will precede the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards airing on ABC on Sunday, Sept. 15, showcasing the pinnacle of television excellence.
