Webfleet, the fleet management solution by Bridgestone, has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge – covering an impressive 569.64 miles (916.74 km).
The record-breaking feat was accomplished by drivers Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke, with support from co-pilot Richard Parker of Webfleet, in a Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV equipped with Bridgestone tires.
All aspects of the attempt were meticulously documented with independently verified video footage, odometer readings, GPS data, and battery level records from Webfleet.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV, boasting a 91kWh battery and a WLTP range of 373 miles, surpassed expectations with an average efficiency of 6.25 miles per kilowatt hour (kWh) on a route spanning Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Cambridgeshire.
The 24-hour drive included a mix of urban and rural roads to simulate real-world driving conditions.
Bridgestone tires played a crucial role in the record attempt, providing excellent mileage and low rolling resistance.
Beverley Wise, Webfleet UKI Regional Director for Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, praised the achievement: “This record underscores the dedication and hard work of everyone involved. It marks a significant milestone in advancing electric vehicle technology and highlights the potential of EVs when coupled with innovative tire design and fleet management solutions.”
Kevin Booker reflected on the achievement, stating, “Breaking this record has been an exhilarating journey and a powerful demonstration of what electric vehicles can achieve. It’s amazing to witness the advancements in EV technology and efficiency, and we hope this inspires more people to embrace electric vehicles for everyday use.”
Sam Clarke added, “Driving the Ford Mustang Mach-E for such a distance on a single charge was an extraordinary experience. The vehicle’s efficiency combined with Webfleet’s technology made this record-setting journey possible.”
Both Clarke and Booker are seasoned record holders in fuel economy and energy consumption for electric vehicles, having accumulated a total of seven Guinness World Records titles between them.
The record attempt received official adjudication from the AA, which also provided leading EV support services throughout the endeavor.
Edmund King OBE, AA president, commented, “We are proud to have supported this remarkable achievement with our expert Patrols and backup team. Together with Ford Mustang Mach-E, Bridgestone, and Webfleet, the drivers have demonstrated the potential of electric vehicles to travel substantial distances. Such milestones are crucial in showcasing the future role of EVs in transport.”
This accomplishment not only sets a new benchmark in electric vehicle performance but also underscores the collaborative effort and technological advancements driving the future of sustainable mobility.
