An 11-year-old diver from Worcester has made waves by smashing the world record for the most deep dives completed before turning 12.
Ethan, who discovered his passion for diving at the age of 10, has achieved an impressive 129 deep dives, surpassing the previous record of 102. His dedication to the sport has been unwavering, with Ethan practicing two to three dives daily, even during family holidays.
Proud father Paul, himself a diving instructor, expressed immense pride in his son’s achievement, noting Ethan’s relentless pursuit of the world record over the past year.
“Ethan really fell in love with it and he’s pursued this world record now for the last 12 months, with ridiculous dedication to do two to three dives every day while we were on holiday,” Paul remarked.
The record-breaking feat has been officially recognized by prominent diving bodies SSI and Padi, with an application submitted to Guinness World Records for formal recognition.
“For somebody his age, he’s just phenomenal and I’m super proud of him,” Paul added.
Reflecting on his journey, Ethan, a student from Warndon, revealed that his passion for diving ignited during an encounter with a shark, an experience that instantly captivated him.
“It was an automatic thing, I just fell in love with it straight away,” Ethan recalled. Despite initial nerves, he persisted with each dive, overcoming fears and steadfastly pursuing his goal of breaking the world record.
“Dive after dive after dive I overcame it,” Ethan shared. “Seeing sharks is my favorite thing to do! It’s the most fun and amazing thing I’ve done in my whole life.”
Ethan’s remarkable achievement not only underscores his passion for underwater exploration but also positions him as a rising star in the world of diving at a remarkably young age.
