At just 2 years and 358 days old, Lynn Takei, known professionally as Jalimpa, has achieved a remarkable milestone by releasing her debut album, Nonsense Makes Sense, in Yamaguchi, Japan. This accomplishment earns her the title of the world’s youngest female solo artist to launch an album.
Jalimpa’s album, available on multiple global music platforms, features performances in what she calls “space language,” which she describes as “the first album of alternative music from another dimension.” Her favorite track is “Dali Dali don don,” a must-listen for anyone exploring her unique sound.
Raised in a picturesque country house within Setonaikai National Park, Jalimpa’s early exposure to nature’s sounds greatly influenced her musical development. By six months old, she began singing melodies despite her limited understanding of language. By her first birthday, she was already performing on a traditional Japanese stage, the tokonoma, singing in what her parents call “cosmic language.”
Her parents, who first recognized her talent and began recording her performances, noted the challenges they faced. “Her best performances often occurred away from the microphone, which had to follow her to capture her music,” they said. Jalimpa’s passion for singing is so intense that it accompanies nearly every moment of her daily life.
Committed to supporting their daughter’s musical journey, her parents provide her with access to various instruments, including the piano, horn, guitar, and traditional Japanese drums. However, they emphasize the importance of a balanced childhood, allowing Jalimpa to explore her interests naturally.
Jalimpa hails from an artistic family. Her parents celebrated her world record with enthusiasm, and her mother, a picture book artist, documented the moment with a doodle.
Their advice to other parents is to “observe and let the kids do what they want to do,” asserting that “all kids have talent, and adults often limit their potential.”
Jalimpa’s groundbreaking career is just beginning, and her future in music promises to be as exciting as her debut album.
