Indian motorcyclist Venkata Karthik Tupili has achieved the Guinness World Record for the longest motorcycle journey within a single country, covering an impressive 140,094.1 kilometers (87,050 miles) across India. Tupili’s journey, which lasted over 450 days, saw him averaging around 350 kilometers (217 miles) per day.
Tupili, who embarked on this record-breaking adventure on his Royal Enfield Himalayan, initially set out to travel 160,000 kilometers (99,419 miles)—a distance equivalent to four times the Earth’s circumference. Despite falling short by approximately 20,000 kilometers (12,427 miles), he surpassed the previous record and secured his place in the Guinness Book of Records.
The endeavor was subject to stringent Guinness guidelines, including a rule prohibiting the crossing of the same road twice. Tupili successfully adhered to these conditions, completing the feat on October 6, 2023.

About Your Background:
“I am from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. With an engineering degree, I worked as an assistant director for web series and movies. My interests span various fields, including the arts.”
Inspiration for the Journey:
“I always wanted to achieve something significant. Motorcycling and traveling across India seemed like the perfect way to fulfill that desire. A friend’s suggestion led me to the world record idea.”
Financing the Journey:
“I initially sought sponsorships but received support mainly from my father. As the journey progressed, many people offered assistance in various forms, which was heartwarming.”
Record Selection:
“The record wasn’t my initial goal. It evolved from a desire to accomplish something meaningful. Meeting diverse people and gaining new experiences were my main motivations.”
Tracking the Record:
I applied to Guinness World Records and followed their extensive guidelines, submitting over 20,000 photos, 5,000 videos, and numerous GPS and witness documents. It required over six terabytes of data storage.”
Previous Record Holders:
“Gaurav Agarwal held the previous record with 115,000 kilometers (71,457 miles). During my journey, Dana D’Arcy of the USA briefly surpassed this with approximately 132,900 kilometers (82,580 miles).”
Preparation and Training:
“I prepared for a year with yoga, boxing, and cardio to build endurance. Mental preparation was equally crucial, supported by my family’s encouragement.”
Challenges and Experiences:
“Solo riding posed various challenges, from daily logistics to adverse weather conditions. A memorable experience was enduring harsh weather in Mizoram, which led to a surprisingly beautiful morning.”
