The Perth Mint has announced a new addition to its prestigious Masterpieces collection, unveiling a coin that stands out for its rarity and value.
This latest release, part of the Masterpieces Jewelled Series, features an intricate design of a turtle, following previous designs showcasing a snake, koi fish, and horse. The coin is crafted from 10 ounces of 99.99% pure gold and is adorned with 113 rare Argyle pink diamonds, 57 natural white diamonds, and two vibrant emeralds.
With only eight of these limited-edition turtle coins available, each priced at $269,000, they are expected to attract significant interest from high-end collectors.
Despite their premium price, these coins are recognized as Australian legal tender with a nominal value of $2,500—though they are likely to be more prized as collector’s items rather than currency.
Neil Vance, General Manager of Minted Products at the Perth Mint, notes that the Jewelled Turtle coin is anticipated to be a favorite among collectors.
“The Perth Mint’s products continue to captivate collectors around the globe,” Vance stated. “With 125 years of expertise, our commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and limited mintages ensures our offerings remain highly sought after by numismatic enthusiasts.”
This coin marks the seventh release in the exclusive Jewelled Series and is the first to feature a diamond-encrusted sea creature. The design includes an 18-carat gold sea turtle surrounded by vivid coral and dory fish motifs. The turtle is embellished with 52 white diamonds and two emeralds for its eyes, highlighting its intricate design.
