NUKUS: A yurt in the Ok Kush (White Bird) complex in Nukus, Karakalpakstan, has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest non-collapsible yurt, according to Kazinform News Agency and gazeta.uz. The yurt measures 40.5 meters in diameter and stands 22 meters tall, as confirmed by the Tourism Committee of the Uzbek Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.
The record was officially recognized during a ceremony held on August 22, attended by Tursinhan Khudaibergenov, Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan, and Amanbai Orynbaev, Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, among other dignitaries.
On August 20, the yurt served as the venue for a significant meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and over 300 entrepreneurs from across Uzbekistan. The yurt will also host various cultural events and forums in the future.
The Ok Kush complex spans 50 hectares. Following the meeting, President Mirziyoyev visited an exhibition showcasing yurts from various Turkic peoples, including Karakalpak, Kazakh, Turkmen, Kyrgyz, and Bashkir, as well as those from different districts of Karakalpakstan.
