The National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) has achieved a Guinness World Record for the most complete costume changes in a lead theatrical role. This accolade was awarded for their revival of Our House, with lead actor Des Coghlan-Forbes executing a record-breaking 37 costume changes throughout the performance.
The record, previously held by costume designer Paul Kieve, who achieved 29 changes in the original West End production, was surpassed with the help of NYMT’s costume designer Molly Fraser and wardrobe assistant Lucy Vickers.
Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records assessor, praised the achievement: “Guinness World Records is passionate about inspiring young talent, and witnessing Des achieve so many quick changes – some in under five seconds – was incredible. The National Youth Music Theatre continues to impress with its versatility and creativity.”
In addition to Our House, NYMT’s season included performances of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods and the new folk musical Catastrophe Bay, by Kit Buchan and Jim Barne.
