A British mechanic has set a new Guinness World Record by designing the fastest electric ice-cream van, reaching a top speed of 118.964 km/h (73.921 mph).
Edd China, known for his mechanical ingenuity, embarked on the project in 2018, transforming a Mercedes Sprinter that originally ran on a diesel engine into a high-speed electric ice-cream van. After two years of meticulous work, China achieved the record-breaking speed in March 2020.
The van’s remarkable speed allows it to serve up to 90 ice-cream cones in Brighton in the morning and still make it to London by noon.
China conducted the speed test at Elvington Airfield in North Yorkshire, England, where the van’s performance was so impressive that it would have warranted a speeding ticket on a motorway.
This achievement not only demonstrates China’s engineering prowess but also redefines the potential for vehicles traditionally associated with a slower pace.
