Angel Reese has made an impressive debut in the WNBA, setting multiple rookie records and earning an All-Star selection. On Sunday, she added another milestone to her remarkable first season by breaking the league’s single-season rebounding record.
In a game against the Minnesota Lynx, Reese grabbed her 405th rebound of the 2024 season, surpassing the previous record of 404 held by Sylvia Fowles from the 2018 season. With eight games still remaining in the season, Reese, who plays for the Chicago Sky, is poised to further extend her record.
In addition to this achievement, Reese holds the record for the most consecutive double-double performances, with 15. She is also the only rookie to record at least 23 double-doubles and the only WNBA player to secure 20 or more rebounds in three consecutive games.
Reese’s exceptional rebounding prowess has been evident throughout the season, and her new record underscores her dominance on the court. As she continues to play, she has the opportunity to further solidify her place in WNBA history.
Before her record-setting performance on Sunday, Reese was averaging 13.2 points and 12.9 rebounds per game for the Chicago Sky, marking a standout rookie season and a significant achievement for both her and the team.
