The Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4MATIC has achieved a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered by a production battery electric vehicle (BEV) on a single charge. The luxury sedan traveled an impressive 949.0 kilometers, from Bengaluru to Navi Mumbai, under challenging conditions.
The record-setting journey navigated busy urban areas, sub-urban roads, and detours, all amidst heavy monsoon rains. Despite these challenges, the EQS 580 demonstrated exceptional efficiency, with an electrical power consumption of 11.36 kWh/100 km. The route covered several Indian cities, including Davangere, Hubli, Belgavi, Kolhapur, Satara, and Pune.
The EQS 580 4MATIC also holds the title of the world’s most aerodynamic production vehicle, with a drag coefficient (cd) of just 0.20. This aerodynamic efficiency, combined with the vehicle’s low-slung design and optimized wheels, contributed to its remarkable range during the record drive.
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, expressed gratitude to BEV enthusiasts and EQS customers for supporting the brand’s green initiatives. He also congratulated the Autocar India team for their achievement. This record further emphasizes the EQS 580’s role in advancing electric vehicle technology and performance.
