Two remarkable dogs from Reading will be featured in the new edition of the Guinness World Records, highlighting their unique achievements.
Olga Jones, 45, from Reading, submitted her dogs Bonnie and Simba for record consideration after observing their exceptional talents. The duo set a record for the fastest time to complete 10 side leapfrog jumps by two dogs, achieving the feat in 16.78 seconds. Simba also claimed the record for the most clothes hung on a washing line by a dog in one minute, with 17 items.
Their accomplishments are among the 2,115 records included in the 2025 edition of the iconic book, which will be available from September 12. This edition marks the beginning of Guinness World Records’ 70th anniversary celebrations.
The new record book features a wide array of extraordinary feats. Notably, Ruth Amos, 34, and Shawn Brown, 33, from Sheffield, have set a record for creating the world’s largest electric toothbrush. Measuring 6 feet 7 inches (2.008 meters) long, the toothbrush was built following a suggestion from an 11-year-old fan named George and took about five days to construct.
Additional records in the 2025 edition include the largest hands and feet on a teenager—Eric Kilburn Jr. from the USA, with hands measuring 9.13 inches and feet 13.50 inches—and the heaviest single repetition weighted pull-up in a wheelchair, achieved by Adnan Almousa Alfermli from Syria with a weight of 32.60 kilograms.
Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief at Guinness World Records, commented, “This new edition, fully revised and updated with over 1,000 images, celebrates our platinum anniversary while continuing the tradition of showcasing the latest record-breaking achievements.”
He added, “Over the past year, we reviewed nearly 30,000 applications, resulting in a book filled with thousands of amazing facts and feats for the entire family to enjoy.”
