The latest edition of the Guinness World Records, celebrating its 70th anniversary, features a host of remarkable new records from Scotland, including a standout achievement by radio presenter Jennifer Reoch.
Jennifer, known for her role on Heart Radio, has claimed the record for the most kilts worn in one minute. She successfully donned five kilts simultaneously, surpassing the previous record of four set by Rachel Walker in London in 2012. This impressive feat was accomplished during a special St Andrews Day event at Heart Breakfast with Des Clarke in Glasgow on November 30, 2023.
In addition to Jennifer’s kilt-clad achievement, the new edition highlights several other Scottish records:
Sir Nils Olav III, the king penguin residing at Edinburgh Zoo, has been promoted to Major General of His Majesty the King’s Guard of Norway and Baron of Bouvet Island. This accolade came on August 21, 2023, elevating him from his previous rank of Brigadier.
The Adventure 2, a toy ship launched by Aberdeenshire brothers Ollie and Harry Ferguson in collaboration with Trinidad and Tobago’s Jax, Kai, and Fynn Lewis, has been recognized as the most travelled toy ship. The vessel journeyed 15,439 km from Guyana through the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and up the US east coast before its signal was lost in November 2021.
James Baxter from Scotland has set the record for the oldest man to ski solo and unsupported to the South Pole. His rigorous training included pulling car tyres along a beach and hiking with a heavy rucksack.
Jamie Aarons, an ultra-runner from California, became the fastest solo munro-bagger, climbing all 282 of Scotland’s 3,000-ft mountains in just 31 days, 10 hours, and 27 minutes.
The 2024 Guinness World Records edition includes 2,115 records chosen from a record-breaking 57,000 submissions. Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief, emphasized the book’s celebration of unique and exceptional achievements, noting the updated format that features under-16 record breakers and icons of achievement.
Other notable entries from this year include:

Cillian O’Connor, a 15-year-old from Ireland, set a record for the most magic tricks performed in one minute in the under-16 category.
