On Thursday, September 19, Batman will be honored with the 2,790th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrating his legacy as an enduring symbol of determination and resilience. This marks the first time a superhero character has received a star on the Walk of Fame.
Since his debut in 1939’s Detective Comics #27, Batman has captivated audiences with his intelligence, skill, and technological prowess, rather than superpowers. The star will be placed next to those of Adam West, the beloved television Batman, and Bob Kane, the character’s co-creator.
The ceremony will take place on September 26 at 11:00 a.m. PT in front of the Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum. Jim Lee, DC’s president and chief creative officer, and Anne DePies, senior vice president and general manager, will be in attendance as Batman, in full costume, receives his star in the motion pictures category.
In a special presentation during the ceremony, Batman will also be awarded the Guinness World Records title for being the first superhero with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, presented by official adjudicator Michael Empric. Other notable Guinness World Records previously awarded to Batman include the longest-running comic book and recognition as the most adapted comic book character in live-action films. Additionally, he holds the record for the most Oscar winners portraying a single superhero, including George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck.
Accompanying the Walk of Fame ceremony, a fan event will be held at Funko Hollywood (6201 Hollywood Blvd.) on September 26. Jim Lee will participate in a one-hour meet and greet from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with limited wristbands available to the first 100 fans who purchase a Batman product at Funko Hollywood on September 24.
A curated pop-up museum showcasing costumes and props from Batman’s film and TV history will also be on display at Funko Hollywood, offering fans an up-close look at iconic pieces from the franchise.
Created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger for DC Comics, Batman has become a cornerstone of American mythology, embodying justice, strength, and fearlessness for 85 years. His star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame adds another milestone to the character’s storied history. DC, part of Warner Bros.
