LOS ANGELES — Ryan Seacrest’s debut as host of “Wheel of Fortune” has resulted in the show’s biggest premiere week audience in five years, according to Nielsen data. The syndicated series averaged 8.31 million viewers during the week ending September 15, marking a significant increase in viewership.
Seacrest’s first episode aired on September 9 and attracted 9.63 million viewers, making it the highest-rated season premiere since 2015. This represents a remarkable 70% increase compared to last year’s premiere, which garnered only 5.68 million viewers. The ratings also reflected growth among households, rising from a 3.39 rating to 5.67, and among adults aged 18 to 49, where the rating increased from 0.52 to 0.86.
During its premiere week, “Wheel of Fortune” claimed the top spot in syndication with a 4.88 household rating and 8.31 million total viewers. This reflects a 21% growth from the previous week, with increases across all key demographics.
In addition to hosting duties, Seacrest will also serve as a consulting producer for the show. Former host Pat Sajak has agreed to remain involved as a consultant for the next three years.
