Qatar is set to unveil a remarkable new project: the Crystal Walkway, the longest climate-controlled pedestrian pathway in the country. Developed by United Development Company (UDC), this innovative walkway will serve as a commercial and social hub, providing a blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. Located on Gewan Island, the Crystal Walkway is poised to become a signature attraction of the island’s vibrant commercial and residential district.
Luxury Living and Crystal Walkway Features
Gewan Island, a luxurious development by UDC, has been spotlighted for its upscale residential offerings, such as the Crystal Residence apartments, which were first introduced at Cityscape Qatar 2021. At this year’s Cityscape Qatar 2024, UDC highlighted the continuing investment opportunities in the development, including the Crystal Walkway itself.
Spanning 450 meters, the Crystal Walkway will be climate-controlled, making it comfortable even during Qatar’s intense summers. Shaded by 45 crystal structures, the walkway covers over 14,000 square meters of space, creating a striking visual experience while offering a haven for visitors. Other key features include:
11,000 square meters of shopping and dining options
101 retail units
482 public parking spaces, with 120 on-street
180 illuminated crystal flooring boxes
Two large 5-meter-tall crystal clocks
The walkway will incorporate 10 tonnes of crystals, including the illuminated flooring boxes that will showcase five distinct themes: desert, snow, forest, sea, and machinery.
Upscale Living on Gewan Island
Surrounding the Crystal Walkway is the Crystal Residence, featuring 15 luxurious mixed-use buildings. Each building stands six to seven stories high and offers a variety of upscale apartments, from one to three-bedroom units to four-bedroom duplexes. Residents will have access to a broad range of amenities, including leisure, retail, and entertainment facilities, along with underground parking.
The Crystal Walkway on Gewan Island is set to be a key attraction for both residents and visitors, combining luxury living with a one-of-a-kind pedestrian experience.
