Romanian concert pianist Thurzó Zoltán has set a new world record for the most piano key hits in 30 seconds, marking his fourth Guinness World Records title. During a commemorative concert on October 23, Zoltán struck a piano key 500 times in 30 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 495 set by Japan’s Keita Hattori in December 2023.
Thurzó dedicated the record-breaking performance, held in Biharia village, Bihor county, Romania, to his mother, Thurzó Margit Terézia, who passed away on the same date a year prior. “The most piano key hits in 30 seconds is 500,” Zoltán shared on social media, honoring her memory on the first anniversary of her passing.
Following official Guinness certification, Thurzó will become the only musician globally to hold four world records, with documentation en route to the Guinness World Records headquarters in London this week, as reported by Agerpres.
Zoltán’s previous records underscore his reputation as a musician pushing the boundaries of performance. In June 2022, he achieved his first Guinness title by performing a grand piano concert at the base camp of Mount Everest, Nepal, at an altitude of 5,325.77 meters. The concert, “Hymn On Heights,” endured frigid temperatures between 1°C and 3°C and spanned 132 minutes, featuring 37 classical pieces and the national anthems of 26 nations.
Just months later, in September 2022, he claimed the title for the “Longest marathon playing keyboard/piano by an individual,” held in Nagyvárad/Oradea, Romania. Then, on June 12, 2024, Thurzó reclaimed the high-altitude title by performing at Umling La Pass in Ladakh, India. Named “Hymn on High 2 – Genesis,” the concert reached 5,798.51 meters and included 9 classical works and 4 national anthems, all performed in temperatures plunging to -10°C to -13°C.
With his latest record, Thurzó Zoltán continues to solidify his place in music history, combining his technical skill with a dedication to pushing the physical and emotional boundaries of performance.
