The 2024 Egg Fair in Tepatitlán, Jalisco, Mexico, set a new Guinness World Record for the largest egg and spoon race, with over 2,000 young participants balancing eggs on spoons as they raced.
Organized by the Tepatitlán Poultry Farmers Association, the event drew nearly 2,700 students from a local high school who raced a distance of 100 meters, or 328 feet, without dropping their eggs. Guinness World Records confirmed that 2,039 participants completed the race without breaking any rules, surpassing the previous record of 1,400 set in London.
Jalisco, which produces over half of Mexico’s eggs, hosted the fair as a celebration of local egg production. In addition to the record-breaking race, the fair featured an egg hunt, a decorated cart race, a bicycle race, and an exhibition of 100 different dishes made with locally sourced eggs.
