Bengaluru: Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited has been honored with a Guinness World Record for its remarkable achievement in raising awareness about hypertension, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to public health. The company’s Summit division received the recognition for collecting the highest number of pledges for a hypertension campaign.
Hypertension, or high blood pressure, affects an alarming 28.1% of India’s adult population. However, only a small percentage of those affected are diagnosed or receive proper treatment. In response to this growing health concern, Alembic’s Summit division launched an ambitious initiative to bridge this gap. On World Hypertension Day, May 17, 2024, the team kicked off a week-long campaign to encourage healthcare professionals (HCPs) across India to take an online pledge to promote better hypertension management, early diagnosis, and enhanced treatment outcomes.
The campaign, which ran from May 13 to May 19, 2024, successfully reached 15,568 healthcare professionals nationwide. These professionals were urged to commit to improving hypertension education and patient care, highlighting the urgent need for action in combating the condition.
In response to the recognition, Shaunak Amin, Managing Director of Alembic Pharmaceuticals, expressed his pride in the accomplishment. “Hypertension is a silent health crisis in India, with millions of people undiagnosed or untreated,” he said. “Our team’s focus has been on raising awareness and empowering healthcare professionals to address this critical issue. We are deeply honored by this recognition from Guinness World Records, which underscores our dedication to making a positive impact on public health.
