A 59-year-old grandmother from Alberta, Canada, has made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the most pushups performed by a female in one hour.
DonnaJean Wilde, a resident of Beazer, achieved an astonishing 1,575 pushups within 60 minutes, surpassing the previous record with 17 minutes still to spare.
“I had to fight back the happy tears and emotions and keep going,” Wilde said in an interview with Guinness World Records. “I still felt quite strong and was aiming for a high number of pushups to complete in the next 17 minutes.”
Wilde is no stranger to extraordinary physical feats. She previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest time in an abdominal plank position (female), maintaining the position for an impressive 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds. Wilde credited her plank training for building the endurance and mental strength needed to tackle the pushup challenge.
The record-setting event was witnessed by 11 of Wilde’s 12 grandchildren, making it a family affair that showcased her determination and resilience.
Wilde’s accomplishment not only sets a new benchmark in female fitness but also inspires individuals of all ages to push their physical limits.
