Sasha Vezenkov, one of the standout players in the EuroLeague, has surprised many by naming Kendrick Nunn as the best player in Europe at the moment. The 29-year-old forward from Olympiacos Piraeus shared his thoughts during a recent appearance on the Triple Threat Show, where he discussed his experiences in the NBA and his return to European basketball.
When asked to name the best player in the EuroLeague, Vezenkov didn’t hesitate. “Kendrick Nunn,” he said, adding that he prefers not to talk about himself. “I can’t talk about myself, I don’t like to talk about myself,” Vezenkov explained.
Vezenkov, who is known for his stellar performance in the EuroLeague, went on to elaborate on why he chose Nunn. “For me, it’s about the guy who comes in and makes an immediate impact,” he said. “He’s making his team better.” Vezenkov emphasized that while scoring ability is important, it’s the overall contribution to the team that defines a great player.
“I can’t say who can score more one-on-one because we have a lot of good players—Mike [James], Kendrick Nunn, Shane Larkin,” Vezenkov noted. “But for me, it’s whoever is really important to their team, doing all the little things, playing tough, playing hard, and winning.”
Kendrick Nunn, who recently joined Panathinaikos, has already proven to be a key player, showcasing his high-level effort and immediate influence on his new team. Vezenkov’s recognition of Nunn’s impact underscores the importance of all-around play in the EuroLeague, not just individual scoring feats.
