Alicante’s renowned Giant Nativity Scene, officially recognized by the Guinness World Records, will return to the Town Hall Square for its 2024-2025 display, with the grand inauguration set for Saturday, December 7. The festivities will kick off at 6:00 PM with a concert in the square, located at the intersection of the Rambla and the Explanada.
Previously showcased inside the Alicante Town Hall, this year the nativity scene will be relocated to Espacio Séneca due to ongoing restoration work on the Town Hall’s façade, which has made access to the ground floor unavailable.
The Giant Nativity Scene has held the Guinness World Records title for the “Largest Nativity Scene Figurines” since 2019. The addition of the Three Wise Men last year further enhanced the impressive display. The scale of the figures is truly monumental, with Baby Jesus standing 3.32 meters tall, 3.31 meters wide, and 4.08 meters deep. Joseph towers at 18.05 meters, with a width of 4.70 meters and a depth of 3.07 meters. Meanwhile, Mary stands at 10.59 meters high, 3.49 meters wide, and 4.28 meters deep. To put their size into perspective, a person who is 1.70 meters tall would only reach Joseph’s ankle.
This iconic nativity scene continues to be a magical holiday tradition, drawing visitors from around the world to marvel at its grandeur.
