TAIPEI — The first sunrise of 2025 will be visible at 6:35 a.m. from Taiwan’s southernmost point in Kenting, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
For those in Taiwan proper, the first sunrise of the year will take place at Long Keng Ecological Reserve in Kenting, Pingtung. However, the earliest sunrise will occur on Orchid Island at 6:34 a.m., marking the first glimpse of the new year for the country’s outlying islands.
In northern Taiwan, the Tiaoshi coast in New Taipei’s Jinshan District offers the best vantage point to witness the sunrise over Keelung. Meanwhile, Waiao Beach in Yilan’s Toucheng Township provides the optimal view of the sunrise over Guishan Island.
In southern Taiwan, the Jialulan Recreation Area in Taitung, located north of Fugang Fishing Harbor, offers the best location for watching the sunrise over Green Island. To catch the first rays over Orchid Island, head to Dawu Coast Park.
As for the final sunset of the year, it will occur at 5:25 p.m. at Qigu Lagoon near Tainan. On Taiwan’s outlying islands, the last sunset will be at 5:30 p.m. on Lieyu Island in Kinmen.
